Baton Rouge Zydeco News Release
There are things that are bigger than sports.
With 4:25 left in the game, Baton Rouge Zydeco defenseman Nick Ketola was hit in the open ice by Carter Eha, sending Ketola hard to the ice. Ketola seemed to lose consciousness for a moment or two before regaining consciousness.
Paramedics arrived to assist Zydeco Athletic trainer Julie Lacour as she tended to Ketola, who remained on the ice for nearly 20 minutes. Ketola was stretched out by paramedics and appeared to be moving his arms and legs.
The game was officially called by the FPHL, Zydeco win this game 3-0 and improve to 2-1-0-1.
Breandan Colgan earned 21 saves and his first win as a Zydeco. Brody Thornton, Tyler Larwood and Matthew Gordon scored for Baton Rouge.
These two teams meet again tomorrow night in Mississippi at 6:05pm CT.
As soon as we get updates on Nick Ketola’s condition, we will share them.
