Your children could attend Wilmington’s first Catholic High School of over 100 years – Wect

Wilmington, NC (Wect) – Wilmington has been receiving his first Catholic high school in more than 100 years. This will be inside the St. Maria Catholic School, where students from before Kindergarten to high school have been going to school since 1869.

“The oldest Catholic school in the state of North Carolina,” said St. Maria Catholic School director Joseph Flight.

But after 8th grade, students are currently not able to go to the Wilmington Catholic High School.

“The Catholic High School is a natural continuation and the next step for our community and something we believe that Wilmington can support and want,” says the parish of the Catholic Church of St. Mark Mark Stinove.

Thanks to numerous committees, local priests and other Catholic schools that cooperate, this is finally happening.

“We will start small and in an environment where we are comfortable and successful,” Stinat said.

An environment that already has a science laboratory, a gym, a music room and a cafe. In the first, four classrooms at the St. Maria Catholic School will be dedicated to high school students.

As they grow in numbers, flights say they have a place to expand.

“Part of our plan can be a renovation for nine more classrooms,” he said.

The high school will be baptized by Father Thomas F. Price High School after the first native of Wilmington, who will be ordained a Catholic priest.

“He continued to open Maryknoll’s missionary society, which today exists today to work with an incredible mission around the world,” said Stinat.

The high school classes begin this upcoming school year.

“We are really excited to start the process of checking and welcoming the first class,” Stinat said.

Applications for enrollment students are currently open, the application fee is canceled for the next month. There is also a study discount for the first two classes of students.
