Young spells shine in the annual spelling bee Shawnee Co.

Topeka, Kan. (Wibw) – Bright minds and big words fulfilled the audience of the high school in Topeka on Saturday morning while students put their spelling skills to the test.

The annual spelling competition of Shawnee Co. It started at 9 o’clock in the morning, where children of all ages met to compete in the words they had studied and prepared.

Words like stormy, serenade and Madrigal were among those that competitors had to write, with words becoming more difficult for every round.

The winner first, Rishik Sinha, said that although they are small, their dictionary is far from it.

“Some people think you just write words, you don’t really know what they mean. My mother helps me a lot, she tells me the definitions. The other day at school I also received the word here, which was an antipathy, and my teacher asked if anyone knew how to say the word, write it, or even tell you what it means and I knew everything about him. Putting these words just makes you better at the dictionary and all this type of things, “Sinha said.

Sinha will move to Sunflower State Spelling Bee on March 22 at Salina.
