NEW BEDFORD — From Del Taco to Hardee’s, the Standard-Times set out to compare a recent USA Today poll, asking readers across the United States to vote on their top 10 fast-food restaurant chains in the nation and see if they meet SouthCoast’s Thirst.
Despite USA Today’s top-rated fast-food chain Del Taco, Chick-Fil-A was voted favorite fast-food restaurant by Standard-Times readers.
Chick-fil-A is an American fast food restaurant chain known for its chicken sandwiches and waffle fries. It was founded in 1946 and has over 2,500 locations in the United States.
Some popular Chick-fil-A menu items include the original chicken sandwich, chicken nuggets, grilled chicken sandwich, waffle fries and milkshakes. They also offer breakfast options like chicken biscuits, chicken minis, and breakfast burritos.

Other menu items include salads, tacos and a variety of sauces for the chicken. They also have a children’s menu, desserts, and some locations offer a limited breakfast menu.
Chick-fil-A is known for its friendly customer service and its commitment to being closed on Sundays for religious reasons.
#2: McDonald’s
McDonald’s didn’t even make the top 10 on USAToday’s list, but it was ranked second in our poll. McDonald’s is a global fast food chain known for its burgers, fries and other convenience foods. The company was founded in 1940 by Richard and Maurice McDonald in San Bernardino, California.
The original menu featured just nine items, including hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fries, milkshakes and soft drinks. Today, guests can order a wide variety of items, including the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder and McDouble. They also offer a variety of chicken sandwiches, wraps, salads, and breakfast items like Egg McMuffins and hotcakes.
#3: Taco Bell
Taco Bell is a fast food restaurant specializing in Mexican inspired food such as tacos, burritos and nachos. Some popular items on their menu include the Crunchy Taco, Cheesy Gordita Crunch, and Doritos Locos Tacos.
They also offer a variety of sides and drinks like nachos, cinnamon twists and Mountain Dew Baja Blast. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available, such as the black bean crunchwrap supreme and the spicy potato soft taco.
#4: In and out burger
In-N-Out Burger is a chain of fast food restaurants specializing in hamburgers, fries and milkshakes. Their most popular menu items include the Double-Double Burger, which contains two beef patties and two slices of cheese, and their signature animal-style fries, which are topped with melted cheese, grilled onions, and secret sauce.
In-N-Out also offers a variety of other burgers, including their hamburger, cheeseburger, and 3×3 (three beef patties and three slices of cheese). Customers can also order grilled cheese sandwiches, as well as a selection of beverages such as soft drinks, iced tea and lemonade.
