It is often said; Wyoming lifestyle is like no other. Wyomingts are full of sand and determination. Most of them work for long hours and most of them do everything they need to keep their families safe and take care. Just like David Santayo of a vest.

Santo has lived in Wyoming for 17 years and, through the vast majority of his adult life, has worked in the energy sector of Wyoming between coal mines, oil, gas and is currently in the power plant. Although Santayo had no attempt to write, he turned to the illustration and writing of his own children’s book, My daddy WyomingWho Santoi hopes young children find out how difficult the fathers of Wyoming work to provide their families.

My daddy Wyoming – This is an idea that I have had for several years. Maybe six years ago I worked in the coal mine in Narm here at Gillette, “Santayo explained. “And with such work, you know, it was like very demanding for my time. At that time I had my little boy, he was already five years old and I had a daughter. This work was very demanding. I leave at four in the morning and go home at 7:30 at night and that was my regular schedule. “

Santayo felt guilty of leaving his wife Rachel and the couple’s two children while he was working so demanding.

“I felt guilty, working so long with work that was so demanding,” Santayo explained. “This is what inspired me to climb the idea – a book dedicated to children, which may help them understand why we are doing the things we do, worked for long hours. Finally, we can secure our family. “

The short book is currently available for pre -order on Santoyo’s website, and Santoyo works with the local business for marketing his book.

“With my family things we enjoy, we see Wyoming in the summer. We do a lot of campsite in the big horns. That’s our favorite place. We are fishing and we started hunting, which is so new to me, but I learned a lot, “Santayo explained. “We love to do things in our community that is in my book. I include activities that we do in the community, such as eating ice cream and reaching the pace of jumping. “

Santayo expressed that he was part of his community, with his family, helped the working father stay in harmony with his wife and children. He has also recently been invited to read his book during the local library time at Moorcoft.

“It was nice. It was my first time I introduced my book as a story time [book] And I was invited to go to Sundance, “Santayo explained. “They opened their doors.”

Santayo hopes to reach more readers in other local libraries in Wyoming.

“I put a lot of love to write this book and illustrate this book,” Santayo said. “I also made the illustrations. I put a lot of thought into it and this is pure with a lot of love and dedication to the hardworking dads who work in Wyoming Industries. “

Santayo and his children are glad to paint and during one of their days Drawing Santoy began to expose his visions into words. He also mentioned that he had added a special touch to his book.

“I have a page where I show the power plant here in Gillette. I put a little drawing on a black goat. The vest people may know what the little goat is, but the people who are not here, this goat has lived in the front of the power plant and probably wandered over the last 15 years that people say, “Santayo explained. “People around the community, just random people, they just stop and feed the goat. They check the goat every day. “

Santoyo works on several more children’s books based on Wyoming in the future.

“I have two more books that I will devote to Wyoming. One of them is actually based on a small goat, a small side story about her. The other is a Christmas story that I have not started yet, but this will be based on the Christmas theme for Wyoming, “Santayo explained.

Santayo expressed her gratitude for the support, explaining that she came as a surprise.

“I just want to thank you all the people who have supported the book so far. I just know I didn’t expect that much support, “Santoo concluded.
