WWE Announces Return to Madison Square Garden; Date Revealed – Inside The Ropes

WWE has announced its return to Madison Square Garden.

Long rumored, WWE has finally announced its return to the popular and prestigious Madison Square Garden arena in New York. The promotion will return to MSG for the traditional episode on December 26.

During the October 28 episode of Raw, New York Knicks star Jaylen Brunson announced his WWE return to the promotion.

An annual tradition, WWE performs in this iconic arena every year. The iconic venue also hosted CM Punk vs. Dominik Mysterio’s first match in over a decade at the Garden last year.

The match card for this year’s show is about to be updated. With the official announcement, the Stamford-based promotion has now officially resumed their holiday tour.

What is WWE’s history with Madison Square Garden?

World Wrestling Entertainment shares a storied past with MSG. Vince McMahon Sr. booked the territory when it was the WWWF, long before his son Vince McMahon rose to the top. McMahon officiated the first WrestleMania from the Garden in 1985.

The main event of WrestleMania 1 at MSG saw Hulk Hogan and Mr. T vs. Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper. The show also featured several celebrity appearances from Muhammad Ali, Cyndi Lauper and more.
