The West Virginia Mountaineers will open the 2024-25 season tonight at WVU Coliseum against Robert Morris.
Here are my picks for tonight. Odds provided by FanDuel Sportsbook.
1 star – Not very confident
2 stars – A little confident
3 stars – Pretty confident
4 stars – Very confident
5 stars – a lock should occur
West Virginia 2-star game (-16.5): These early season games are going to be really hard to pick because there is so much new with this team and coaching staff. Robert Morris also had a lot of turnover, so we can’t go too far in making this pick. That being said, I liked what the Mountaineers showed in their showing against Charleston, and I think we’ll see a similar result tonight. Maybe not in the final score, but West Virginia should have a comfortable lead for most of the evening. Yes, Robert Morris played Villanova strong in their exhibition, but this isn’t the same Wildcats team you’re used to seeing. They were picked to finish seventh in the 11-team Big East Conference.
1 star game below: West Virginia will be committed on defense and will make life pretty tough for RMU in terms of trying to get open looks. Darian DeVries wants his guys to play up tempo and push the ball in transition, but I could see the Mountaineers wanting to slow things down at times and run a methodical offense to really share the ball and gain chemistry and trust with each other. My gut tells me that WVU’s shooting ability will carry this over, but I’m going to go against it early on. A slight slope to the bottom.
ATS: 0-0
O/W: 0-0
Total: 0-0
