The Bears started with Na dong and Kennedy Gibbs Losing on court two to Texas Salma Drogdova and Carmen Ereya, 6-4.
However, Boo bounced back with No. 13 pairing on Libov Kostenko and Christina Tiglia earning a 6-4 victory. Followed by Zuzanna Kubacha and Wenfei Yu Coming back from a 4-2 deficit to take a 7-6 (3) win to give Baylor Doubles Point.
In singles, Kubacha was the first to claim victory with a 6-2, 6-2 victory on the court, taking down Texas No. 65 Ashton Bowers.
The Longhorns responded by taking three courts with wins on courts one, five and six defeating Tiglea 6-3, 6-1, Gibbs 6-4, 6-4 and No. 118 Yu 6-2, 6-1, respectively.
No. 76 freshman Dong opened with a first-set loss before coming back with a dominant 6-1 second-set win. In a hard-fought third set, Dong was able to take the win, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5, to tie the match at 3-3.
On two courts, Kubacha had a hard-fought win in the first set before falling in the second set. In a back-and-forth battle in the third set, Longhorn’s Eszter Meri pulled out the win 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (6), giving Texas its second win of the season.

At the match…
I am proud and excited about this team. They fought so hard today, showing their toughness, competitiveness and resilience every step of the way. These are athletes of high character who put the team first, constantly fight for each other and push each other to improve. Although this was a tough loss, I have no doubt that we will respond in the right way and come back even stronger.
