Schools of Winston-Salem/Forsyite school staff host a community session on Wednesday to discuss the proposed changes within the school limits.
The area received nearly $ 1 million federal funding for grants several years ago to develop a plan to promote more diverse schools.
At a recent meeting of the School Council Frank Pantano, one of the leaders of the project area, said he had two main goals for this initiative.
“One of these goals was to update these housing boundaries so that they were more effective in terms of transport,” Pantano said. them more integrated. “
The area is committed to about 11,000 community members last year to contribute to what changes, if any, must be made.
Based on these meetings, employees have created cards with updated school zones and will start hosting sessions for feedback for their designs this week. The first is on Wednesday from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Innovation Center M3.
Officials say they plan to hold community meetings in June, improve the cards and then return them to a second look before submitting a proposal to the school board.
