WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University women’s basketball team opens the 24-25 campaign on Friday, Nov. 1. The Rams will face Elon University at 7:00 pm in the Schar Center.

Rams Returns:
The Rams return six returners from last year’s team. Sophomore La’Nia Symesteenagers Alexandria Warren, Jakaia Mackand Chloe Williamssenior Christiana McLeanand graduate student Sierra Hunter.
Rams newcomers:
The Rams welcomed the freshman Alanna Biossophomore Khauri Little, Karina Scott, Zion Duncanjunior Kieran Walkerand graduate students Jalisa Lanier and Maya-Madison Walker during the offseason.
CIAA Preseason/Studies
Jakaia Mack was named to the 2024-2025 All-CIAA Women’s Basketball Preseason Frontcourt Team. Mack finished last season playing in 15 games and starting 12. She averaged 23 minutes with 8 points per game, 45% FG and 57% FT. The women were picked to finish tenth in the preseason poll.
Scouting report
Last year, Elon University finished (11-21, 7-11 CAA). Elon returns nine players from last season Ava Leroux, Regina Walton, Aichez Adams, Maraja Paz, Raven Preston, Camryn Doty, Ruby Willard, Ali Wadkowski and Hannah Dereje. Iycez Adams was a preseason All-CAA second team selection. Phoenix returns its leading scorer Aychez Adams, who averaged 10.3 points per game. Adams scored a season-high 20 points against Hofstra University on March 7, 2024. Phoenix averaged 53.1 points per game last year.

The women will open the 2024-2025 regular season as they travel to Frostburg, Maryland. The Rams will participate in the Jim Crawley Conference Challenge on Friday, November 8th and Saturday, November 9th. First, the Rams will face Frostburg State on Friday, November 8th. Tip-off is set for 7:00pm at Bobcat Arena.
