Women’s basketball attends BIG EAST Media Day at Madison Square Garden – St. Johns Athletics

NEW YORK– The women’s basketball program at St. John’s attended BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Media Day on Wednesday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.

Head coach Joe Tartamella and three veteransJayla Donald, Lasha Dwyer and Ber’Nyach Mayo introduced the program Wednesday at a meeting with local and national media ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, which is less than two weeks away.

Mayo began the day by visiting the NASDAQ Market Site in Times Square along with players from all 11 BIG EAST schools. The group was given the opportunity to attend the opening ceremony of the exchange and participated in a private tour and media interviews.

The BIG EAST preseason team and coaches polls were released this morning. Mayo have earned a place in the pre-season squad and the Red Storm have been picked to finish fourth, their highest pre-season prediction since 2020.

St. John’s will celebrate its 50th anniversaryth anniversary season on November 4th when it welcomes Saint Peter’s for a 2pm contest at Carnesecca Arena.
