Woman treated for smoke inhalation after house fire on South Sunset Hill Avenue – WBRZ

BATON ROUGE — Firefighters Friday contained a fire in the bedroom of a home on South Sunset Hill Avenue.

Firefighters were called to the fire at 2:54 p.m. and had the fire under control by 3:05 p.m.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department said a woman was transported from the scene of the fire and treated for smoke inhalation. Authorities said the woman has been released and is expected to be OK.

Another person, the woman’s grandson, was treated for cuts and bruises sustained while being rescued from the fire. He ran to a nearby convenience store on Airline Highway, where emergency personnel responded to the man’s injuries. The man’s injuries were initially reported to have been caused by gunfire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
