Witnesses talk about the alleged ice retention in south Larendo – KGNS

Laredo, Texas (KGNS) – People living in the south Larendo neighborhood were shocked after an alleged immigration operation was performed this morning this morning, February 12th.

According to a witness who chose to remain anonymous, “many of them (agents) were there, some had already had a firing gun and they knocked on the door.”

People who live near Leon Avenue’s 100 block tell the times when a group of about 30 employees with the Ministry of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs (ICE) was looking for a man who is supposedly asylum seeking.

“They surrounded the house and asked me to open the door. I was scared, I didn’t know what was happening, “said another witness, Esther Escaler.

The escaler lives in the area and says the agents have knocked on her door, asking to enter, looking for their nephew. She added that her nephew came to the United States asking for asylum, but returned to Mexico.

“He had gone to Mexico for months, and I told them. However, they asked me to check the house, they had to enter the house to make sure he was no longer there, “she added.

After talking to the agents, they left the escaler’s property and then the escaler witnessed the fact that they were detaining the people on a nearby construction site, which had nothing to do with her nephew.

Mention: “I was shocked, I think they took the two workers who were there working in the front. They did not come for them, came to my nephew, but I think they grabbed them and took them away. “

During the mass deportations and icy raids continue throughout the country, the escaler believes that the current situation makes her sad and sympathetic to others.

Noting: “Fear and insecurity become very ugly. S S The workers were just here by accident, but they were also taken away. ”

It is not clear how many others in the neighborhood were detained or questioned by the agency. KGNS addressed ICE employees for comment, but so far we have not received an answer.
