Wisconsin DNR Stopping Burn Permits in Multiple Counties Due to Fires – WMTV

Madison, wis. (WMTV) – The Columbia County Sheriff’s service said on Friday that the burn permits were stopped in several districts due to several fires caused by dry weather.

According to the Sheriff’s Facebook page, the Counts under the ban are Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Grant, Iowa, Richland and Sauk.

Authorities said the ban would be introduced until further notification.

So far, in 2025, employees have said DNR has responded to nearly 100 wild fires that have burned over 300 acres.

Below is a list of fire tips:

  • Avoid burning outdoors
  • Work with equipment like cutters early in the morning or late during the day to avoid creating sparks
  • Secure trailement chains
  • Report fires early by calling the police.

Meteorological conditions are expected to improve as a winter storm is expected on Sunday.
