South Lake Tahoe, CA – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a winter weather advisory for the Great Lake Tahoe area from 7 a.m. Saturday until 4 p.m. Sunday. There is another Winter Weather Advisory in place for Reno, Carson City and the Carson Valley for the same times.
Lake Tahoe hasn’t seen much measurable snow this winter, and this snow won’t be a huge change in that. Snow accumulations will be between 1 to 4 inches, excluding up to
8 inches for areas above 7,000 feet in Carson and Alpine County. Wind gusts to 35 mph with ridge winds gusting to 65 mph. Wave heights of 1 to 3 feet are expected on Lake Tahoe.
Snowfall amounts will range from Reno to the Carson Valley, from a trace to 3 inches, with up to 6 inches for the foothills and Virginia City. Wind gusts could be as high as 30 mph.
