Winter Storm Watch issued for Reno, Sparks and Carson City starting on Thursday morning – Krnv

The National Meteorological Service in Renault issued a watch for a winter storm for the Renault, Sparks and Carson City areas, effective from 2 o’clock in the morning to 4am on Friday.

The Meteorological Service said heavy snow is expected, with the accumulation ranging from 1 to 5 inches along the floors of the valley. Foot areas over 5500 feet can see between 6 and 12 inches of snow.

Moderate to heavy snowfall periods are most likely early on Thursday morning, the Meteorological Service said, adding that the rain can be mixed with snow in the valleys until Thursday afternoon.

Traveling can be very difficult and dangerous conditions can affect both trips on Thursday and evening, according to the Meteorological Service.
