Winston Salem, NC (WGHP)-Winston-Salem’s city is preparing to welcome thousands of NASCAR fans in the city for the Bowman Gray stadium.
It’s only two months old. Winston-Salem Fairgrounds has announced plans to host camps over the weekend at the big event.
This will be one of the biggest weekends in the region.
“We are truly excited by being able to offer this to fans,” said Winston-Salem Ben Rowe assistant manager.
The city of Winston-Salem wants to create an experience for fans coming to enjoy the return of the NASCAR CUP series at the Bowman Gray stadium for the first time in 54 years.
Fans will have the opportunity to camp at the Winston-Salem Fair from February 1 to February 3 for the event.
“We have a great layout … If they want to make full connections with electricity and water and sewage, they can do so. If they … just want to come and go out a tent and hang out … During the race weekend, they can do it too, “Rowe said.
Reservation fees will depend on which camping style people choose. There will also be a minimum of three nights for reservation. The fair playgrounds are a little 10 minutes by car from Bowman Gray Stadium, and fans will have to be ready to navigate parking.
“NASCAR works very hard when it came up with a parking plan,” Rowe said. “This is one of the challenges we know we will deal with the fact that we will have to cope.”
There will be an additional parking lot outside the Bowman Gray Stadium. Two parking spaces outside the site are the Allegacy Stadium and the edge of the innovative quarter. People can park there and take a shuttle to the stadium.
“So there will be opportunities for people to be able to park and reach the stadium. They just have to plan forward for it, ”Rowe said.
The NASCAR partnership city continues to make improvements to the Bowman Gray Stadium to prepare it for the clash.
