Winston -Salem Born Ben Falls resigned after Trump shaking Kennedy Center – WFDD

Winston-Salem’s born Ben Falls resigned his position as an artistic advisor in the National Symphony Orchestra. This happens after a shaking at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, where President Donald Trump is already chairman.

“Not for me,” Falls wrote in an Instagram post.

He says he has had a wonderful eight years by working with the organization, including Kennedy Center President Deborah Rutter and the musicians with the National Symphony Orchestra. But he says he is withdrawing because of the latest developments at the Center, including the termination of the Rutter contract.

The folds grew up in Winston-Salem and finish RJ Reynolds High School. He was widely recognized in the 90s with his band Ben Falls five. Their song “Brick” was a hit at Billboard Top 20. The song singer also had a long solo career.

The Board of the Center of Kennedy was historically bilateral, but Trump fired members appointed by former President Joe Biden and installed his own. Then the board unanimously appointed Trump as chairman.

Trump has elected his former acting director of national intelligence Richard Greinell as temporarily acting president of the center.

Folds is not the only artist to cut ties after shaking. Opera Star Renée Fleming also resigned, as is the producer and screenwriter Shonda Rhimes. Actress and writer Isa Rae canceled a sold -out show scheduled for March.
