“On Friday, South and West Wales, Southwestern Scotland and the eastern parts of Northern Ireland, they will see the strongest winds, probably about 70 km / h on the open shores and about 60 miles / h more in the warning areas.

“Rain is an additional danger, with 30-40 mm probably in parts of Scotland for a period of six hours and up to about 70 mm is possible through the higher land in the warning areas.”

More rain and wind are expected from Sunday, according to Met Office.

The yellow warning for strong winds will be in force on Friday from 6 to 10am for eastern parts of Northern Ireland and from 8:00 to 15:00 for Southwestern Scotland and parts of Wales.
