A Prince William County nurse who says she only plays lottery games once or twice a year has her mother to thank for a $1.8 million windfall.
The Bowie woman was at a gas station with her mother at the Chesapeake Market at 12300 Annapolis Road in Glen Dale when she was talked into buying a random ticket for a random game.
She chose a Multi-match ticketand it paid off in a big way, even though they didn’t realize it at first.
The lottery rookie handed the ticket to his mother before the two went their separate ways.
It wasn’t until she scanned the ticket to see if her daughter had won anything that she was met with a message telling her to “Go to the lottery” that piqued her interest.
The winner’s mother then drew the winning numbers for the October 28 draw – 06–12–14–30–37–42 – and found out that her daughter is a millionaire.
“I looked at him and said, ‘No way,'” the mother recalled, and when she broke the news to her daughter, the lucky girl couldn’t believe it either.
“I didn’t think it was real. I wasn’t sure it was real until the next day,” she said.
The gain now comes with an annual annuity option paid in 25 installments, or an approximate $1.075 million cash option.
Marks the eighth Lots of matches jackpot winner for 2024. The rest were sold to:
