Wilmington’s leading goalkeeper for all time named student athlete of the week – Yahoo

New Wilmington, Pennsylvania (WKBN) – Wilmington senior Lia Croup will come down as one of the most decisive basketball players the Greyhounds have ever seen.

Krarup is a four -year winner in the letter and a starter in the Wilmington Girls’ Basketball Team. She is also a three -year -old captain for the Greyhounds.

“In fact, I think that when I was a younger one, I went to basketball camps and I was to boys teams growing throughout my life,” Kroup said. “Maybe they are pushing me around and, like harassing me a little, it may have started. But my father also pushed me a lot. “

She is a leading goal scorer on the greyhound and is in the club of 1000 points. Krarup also has the school record for most three points in the game and most points in the 42 game.

Her next successful three -point attempt will give her the Mercer County Record for most career threes.

Crooup has received all state honors twice and has been the player of the year in the region twice.

She also led the Wilmington team to regional championships in her second and junior seasons. In her sophomore, she helped the Greyhounds to win the title in the region for the first time in 28 years.

“I know I have to study and do my homework to maintain my grades, just like on the court. If I’m going into a big game or practice, I know I just have to do my best and I always just work hard and everything, “Krupa said.

Krarup has four Varsity letters in the Softball team and is a three -year -old starter. She helped to overcome Wilmington’s team to the region’s title in her junior season.

Outside of sports, she is a member of the National Society of Awards, the future business leaders of America, the club hope and the anniversary club.

It voluntarily deals with community cleaning, food and baking sales.

“I always want to be there for other people, go to help them, or if there was a player on the court, regardless of my teammate or not, I always take them to be there for them,” Kruoup said. “Even out of sports. Just be a good leader on and off the court. “

Wilmington’s highlight leads children’s biblical schools and church camps. It even helps the grandparents who own a church.

Krarup helps to lead the younger children in basketball and softball clinics and camps.

“I always want to be there for other people,” said Kruoup.

The Wilmington star is also captain in the classroom with 3.8 GPA.

After graduation, Croup will visit Clarion University to study exercise science and play basketball at college.

“It’s just my dream of playing. I have been playing just for so long since I think I’m six years old, “Kruoup said. “I started picking up a ball and I remember entering Wilmington, who wanted to play basketball at college.”

Kroup will then see the court while Wilmington plays Mercer winner against Cokranton in the quarterfinals of Piaa Class 2A on Saturday, February 22nd.
