“It was a huge success. It was one of the biggest things I participated in on the council.”
New Hanover County (WWAY)-Saturday in Wilmington marked the end of the three-week pilot program in the Brooklyn Arts area.
Wilmington municipal councilor Luke Widel says the pilot program is going well.
He says businesses take advantage of the most, with some saying that they have doubled- or even tripled their profits.
Wadell envisages the social area to be a permanent thing.
“It was a huge success. It was one of the biggest things I participated in on the Council. I managed to go to only two of the three. I went to the first and the last one last Saturday. I took my wife and a 2-year-old son. There were children and dogs everywhere. It was a really fun and happy experience, “Widel said.
Wadell says the City Council will collect data from the pilot program then and hopes the council will make a unanimous decision.
