Wilmington Voter’s Guide: Everything you need to know about times, locations and candidates – StarNewsOnline.com

Before heading to the polls on November 5, there are a few things voters should know to ensure a smooth process.

Although many in the Wilmington area have already voted through the early voting process, many are waiting until Election Day.

Here’s how to be prepared.

When do polling stations open and close?

Polls will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. Those queuing at 7:30 p.m. will still be able to vote.

How do I find my polling place?

The State Election Commission has a voter lookup website that will provide each voter with the name and address of their precinct and polling place.

Simply enter your first and last name, year of birth and county you are registered in, then the information should load if you are registered.

Do not rely on your polling place from previous elections as some places have changed this year. New Hanover and Brunswick counties have a list of locations that have changed this year, but the location on your registration is where you should go.

Who’s in my newsletter?

To see what your ballot looks like and who’s on it, scroll down on your voter search profile and you’ll see a section titled “your sample ballot.” Then click the link to the sample ballot in PDF format to see your options for each contest.

possible As early voting turnout set a record in North Carolina, lines were long, with some waiting an hour or more. So don’t forget to get your driver’s license or valid photo ID before you get in line.
