Wilmington to vote to cancel the Cannabis Regulation – WCAX

Wilmington, Vt. (Wcax) – Wilmington residents will vote on whether to cancel their retail cannabis regulation on this day at a city meeting. It comes as three other cities- Hinesburg, Fairfax and Stockbridge- will vote on whether to allow retail sales in their communities.

Almost 80 cities and cities in Vermont have approved the sales of cannabis. Wilmington is one of them. There are two pots on the main street. But this day of the city meeting, residents will decide if this is enough.

Wilmington was among the first communities in Vermont to welcome the cannabis sales. Matterhorn Vermont pharmacist has just celebrated her two-year anniversary.

“The locals were very supportive, tourists were very supportive. But you know, it’s very seasonal here, “Horn said.

The store, along with the delivery of cannabis on the street, are the two licensed cannabis shops in the city.

“We are worried about yourself, but when you continue to add more and more than the same things, it obviously cuts the pie,” Horn said.

But this city may vote to block future licenses by canceling its current cannabis regulation.

“This is just the chosen advice that asks voters what you want to do?” Wilmington Scott Tucker’s manager said.

The city manager says that Wilmington has only one alcohol store that is accidentally located next to one of the two cannabis outlets.

“If alcohol licenses are limited geographically by the state, why aren’t the cannabis retail companies restricted?” said Tucker.

Mary Anne has lived in Wilmington for approximately 60 years.

“I don’t know, I think two are probably enough, we’re a really small town,” said Abaro.

The two Wilmington stores will not be affected in any way. Their licenses will be encountered within the framework, even if the city votes to cancel its ordinance.

“They seem to be doing well. I don’t know if it attracts more people in the city and it’s always nice, “said Abaro.

Last fall, the state stopped, giving away licenses due to fears of excessive saturation. New rules for retail sales are currently being offered at the state level.

“I’m sure Vermont does not want to have 5,000 dispensaries in a state of that a little,” Horn said.

The day of the city meeting for this city will be held at the old high school on School Street. The lack of newsletters are available at the office of the city official.
