Wilmington police warns about the popular new fraud call – Wect

Wilmington, NC (Wect) – Wilmington Police wants you to be aware of a popular scam at the moment when the call pretending to be an WPD employee from the WPD order.

WPD says calls can come from 910 area code. The caller may also leave a voicemail asking you to return the call, saying that they have legal documents that have to go with you.

If you get such a call, WPD wants you to know that they are not them. They say that you do not give the caller any of your personal or financial information, but instead close and call the WPD at (910) 343-3600 to report it.
