Wilmington – Police are investigating an explosion that has arisen in the Hariman tank and wound three people over the weekend.

One adults and two children were injured in the incident, which happened around 9:30 am Saturday.

“This is definitely a tragic incident,” said Wilmington police chief Matt Murano in an interview. “We are still trying to hit what caused it.”

Murano said the preliminary investigation found that an explosion of an evaporated cloud had happened at a goofy of ice fishing, where the three victims had suffered “serious injuries associated with burning”.

By about 1:30 pm on Monday, two of the victims were still hospitalized. The incident is still being investigated and everyone with information has been asked to call the Wilmington Police Department on the 802-464-8593.

Members of the Fish and Wildlife Division Vermont and a Vermont State Police Unit help the investigation.

“We are not sure what type of gas he was involved at the moment,” Murano said, planning to rely on expertise from state agencies in the investigation.

Murano said the victims were “self -transported” to the hospital, after which the police went to the site afterwards to investigate. Using motor sleds, the police went out of place called the “fishing point” near Castle Hill Road.

Speculation for various causes should be avoided until the incident is fully investigated, Murano said. He plans to release more information after the investigation is over.
