A Wilmington man faces gun charges after a Jan. 24 traffic stop near Georgetown.
Police say they saw a Ford Fusion speed and spin on US 113 near Deer Forest Road at 4:33 a.m. And they towed the car. The driver, Douglas McLean, 35, showed signs of impairment and after administration
Standardized Field Sobriety Tests McLean was arrested for driving under the influence. During a search of the car, police said they found a stolen 9mm handgun, ammunition and about 2.3 grams of cocaine.
McLean was taken to Ward 4 where he was charged with possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person with a firearm while under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence and traffic charges.
He was arraigned by Magistrate Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $55,702 cash bond.
