Wilmington Cheer Team finishes third in the state – Wcsjnews.com

The cheerleading team of the Wilmington High School finished third in the small division in the state race last weekend.

Cheerful coach Janin Baylek talks to WCSJ about her team, which finished third.

“I feel that I still swallow it. It was very exciting and obvious in ecstasy to be in the top three in the state, as you know that the cheerleaders in Illinois are extremely competitive and the last few years have been in the top ten and we just miss the podium.

Bejlovec said the motto is “We will not give way.”

“We chose this motto because we had a very small number of only three athletes who actually competed on the floor last season. So we wanted to really focus on the continuation of our heritage, you see that you know that we do it in condition and again successful. Therefore, we use that we will not give up and these words were also in our fun.

Bejlovec also said that six out of nine athletes in the team are adults.

“There were five adults and two freshmen who were actually competing. Positive and encouraging each other and you know that you are building them to become part of what has become Wilmington’s tradition and encourage them to maintain these standards.”

Colombia won the state title and Richmond Burton finished second.
