Norfolk, Washington-Basketball Team of Norfolk in Norfolk extended their home win to 23 games with a dominant 83-37 victory over South Carolina on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans had three other players in double figures, with Da’bria Clark contributing to 15 points, McAya Diavara added 13, and Diamond Johnson scored 12.

State South Carolina came out strong, hit 4 of its first 9 shots to jump to an early lead of 11-2. However, it wasn’t long when Norfolk State began to break away. Sophomor’s guard Jonesa Hill broke nearly six minutes to get drought for Spartans with a pair of free throws, pruning the Bulldogs lead to 11-4 with 2:45 in the first quarter. Despite Hill’s efforts, Heaven Harper struck a Jumper for Scsu, pushing his advantage to 17-4 in a quarter break.

The second quarter was a different story, as the Spartans erupted to run 14-0, closed by the theft and arrangement by Willer. She then struck a 3-indicator from the left corner to put NSU to 24-19. Norfolk State ended the halftime halftime with 14-2, with Da’naijah Williams hitting a jumper to pull the clutch just before the Zumer send the Spartans to the dressing room with a lead 38-23.

Going out at halftime, Johnson hit a quick jumper to start the NSU score. The Spartans maintained the pressure, continued with 8-0, closed by a diavar arrangement at 6:53, forcing a Bulldogs time-out. The Norfolk State defense has intensified after the break, forcing two turnover and expanding its lead to 53-27. Wheeler restricted the strong third quarter to driving, as the NSU finished the period at 8-2.

The Spartans kept their foot on the gas in the fourth, opening 9-0 mileage in the first four minutes. After the media time, Clark knocked down a 3-pointer, extending the NSU lead to 79-34 by just over four minutes. Sophomor Anjanay Richardson put the final touches on the victory with a jumper.
