After making his NBA debut in the Los Angeles Lakers’ regular season opener, rookie Bronie James could make his second regular season appearance against the Cleveland Cavs. Meanwhile, the Cavs remain undefeated. Star Donovan Mitchell’s message to Darius Garland haters was certainly needed after Garland’s 34-point performance in a 110-104 win against the New York Knicks extended Cleveland’s regular-season record to 4-0 before welcoming the Cavs’ championship superstar for 2016 LeBron James and his son, Brony, on Wednesday.
It’s a homecoming for the father-son duo in the NBA. LeBron, a native of Akron, Ohio, spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Cavs after Cleveland drafted him first overall in 2003. Brony was born a year later. Some expect the two to make their first court appearances since their three-minute stint in the home opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to ClutchPoints Lakers insider Anthony Irwin.
“The South Bay Lakers wrap up their season on Nov. 9 and sources confirm reports that Broney will be there for that and will spend most of this season focusing on developing his game,” Irwin said. “Sources have indicated that it is quite likely that he will play alongside his father in Cleveland.”
According to one source, the experience of playing alongside Brony has rejuvenated LeBron, despite the fact that the two haven’t shared the floor since Game 1 last week.
“LeBron loves it,” the source said. “He’s been doing this for a long time, and eventually those stretches early in the season get kind of monotonous. But because he’s focused on making an example of Brony, he’s more recruited now than he’s ever been since he’s been here.”
When James shockingly returned to The Land for four seasons in 2014, he secured the franchise’s first NBA title in 2016.
The Cavs can improve to 5-0 with a win against the Lakers
Heading into the second week of the 2024-25 campaign with a 3-0 record, the Cavs were ranked No. 4 in NBA.com’s first regular-season Power Rankings. However, after an emphatic win against the Knicks to remain undefeated, a fifth win against LeBron James and the Lakers should push them into the top 3 for next week.

The production between Cavs Stars Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert has been spectacular, and the offensive numbers have been staggering, according to NBA.com’s John Shuman.
“Darius Garland and Allen played 33 minutes together without Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley, while Mitchell and Mobley played 43 minutes without Garland and Allen. In those 76 total minutes with just one starting guard and one big starter on the floor, the Cavs are plus-52 after scoring 132.3 points per 100 possessions,” Shuman reported.
The Cavs will host the Lakers at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Wednesday.
