Virginia Beach, Washington – Joan, the trader of crafts and fabrics, plans to close more than half of his other stores after declaring head bankrupt for the second time for less than a year.

The company filed a proposal on Wednesday to the bankruptcy court, wanting to close about 533 of its 800 US places.

The original store closing list includes at least one space in all 50 states except Hawaii.

The United States with the largest closure of stores include California (61), Florida (36), Pennsylvania (33), Ohio (33) and Michigan (33).

“The print of the right size of the store is a critical part of the efforts to secure the best way forward for Joan,” said an update published Wednesday against the background of the case.

A spokesman for the company told CNN in a statement: “This was a very difficult solution, given the main impact we know will have on the members of our team, our clients and all the communities we serve.”

This is the second time Joan has declared bankruptcy for less than 12 months. In April 2024, the company completed a restructuring, which saw it distinguished from the US Stock Exchange and became a private company as part of a bankruptcy deal.

The company announced on January 15 that it was seeking approval of the Delueer court to start the process of selling “essentially all its assets”, according to a press release.
