Wyoming
You want to find the highest speed limit in the country? A trip to Texas. A toll road outside of Austin is posted at 85 MPH.
If you drove in the 1970s, then you’ll remember that then-President Richard Nixon agreed to a national speed limit of 55 mph for all states in 1974. According to the American Safety Council, in 1995, the US Congress rolled back the laws for the speed limit back to the individual states and allow each state to decide its maximum driving speed.
