The Yellowstone universe is ever-expanding, and its new spin-off show The Madison promises all the action and drama that other shows like 1923 provide.
The seventh extended series of the Dutton show will be hosted by Michelle Pfeiffer and was previously titled 2024, which Michelle was rumored to star alongside Matthew McConaughey.
It’s unclear if the Failure to Launch star will star in the series now, according to Variety. That being said, here’s everything we know about the exciting new series so far…
Cast
Michelle Pfeiffer will host the show in the lead role of Stacey Clyburn and will also executive produce the series.
“She is the perfect anchor to the latest chapter of the Yellowstone universe,” said Chris McCarthy, CEO of Paramount Global, adding that the actress is a “remarkable talent.”
We also know that Suits favorite Patrick J. Adams has signed on to play Russell McIntosh, an investment banker whose life has been mapped out before him.
Elle Chapman will play Russell Page’s wife, “a somewhat self-absorbed woman who indulges in a luxurious New York lifestyle provided by her parents and investment banker husband.”
Firefly Lane’s Beau Garrett will play Abigail Reese, a tough New Yorker and recently divorced mother of two, with Planet of the Apes star Amiah Miller playing her daughter. Elle and Bo’s characters will play the role of Michelle’s on-screen daughters.
Also announced for the cast is Matthew Fox, best known for his appearance in Party of Five, whose character is described as a “single bachelor who loves the outdoors.”
Additionally, there has been widespread speculation of Kurt Russell joining the cast, but no official announcement has been made.
What about Matthew McConaughey?
The news that McConaughey might be joining the Yellowstone franchise sent fans into a frenzy, so what do we know? Matthew was originally rumored to be starring in the Yellowstone 2024 spinoff, which we now know to be Madison back in February 2023.
However, since the series was announced, there has been no update on the rumours. The actor was reported to have grown tired of protracted contract negotiations in 2024, so it’s anyone’s guess whether he’ll appear at that stage, but the announcement of Matthew Fox joining seems to suggest otherwise.
Yellowstone veterans Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly, and Luke Grimes were also touted to join the show, but with no update, doubts have been cast over time.
What is the show about?
“A heartfelt exploration of grief and human connection follows a New York family to central Montana’s Madison River Valley,” according to Paramount.
The show was originally pitched as a series that “follows wealthy matriarch Stacey Clyburn and her family as they leave New York and head to Montana after the tragic death of her husband and brother-in-law in a plane crash,” though those details may change.
When will it air?
The show is rumored to have begun production in August, according to TVLine. Filming will take place in Montana and New York, as well as Texas in the coming months.
The series was originally thought to start after the return of the fifth series of Yellowstone, which airs from November 10, but now it seems that 2025 is a much more achievable time frame.
