According to MY SA, the Drug Enforcement Administration has found this bright pink powder in multiple Texas counties such as Harris and Travis.
What is pink cocaine?
Pink cocaine can often go by another name, “Toosie.” This is because the main compound in the original formula is 2C-B, a psychedelic component.
However, as the DEA states on its website, after 2C-B became harder to obtain, distributors shifted their focus to creating drug cocktails that they then dyed pink for more visual appeal.
The side effects of consuming this particular substance can range from mind-altering psychedelic trips to fatal reactions.
Why is pink cocaine dangerous?
The reason there is so much attention and danger surrounding this substance is that it is not just one drug. In fact, every shipment of pink cocaine seized by the DEA consists of a mixture of dangerous drugs, according to Special Agent Brian Cole in an interview with KXAN.
The DEA states that the following drug cocktails have been identified in batches of pink cocaine:
- Ketamine and MDMA
- Meth, Ketamine and MDMA
- Cocaine and fentanyl
- Fentanyl and xylazine
Currently, pink cocaine is not common in Texas. According to the DEA, local law enforcement is more likely to find this combination of drugs at the retail level.
The DEA also wants to get a message out to all Americans. They say drugs have really changed. Drug use is now more dangerous than ever with such concoctions as pink cocaine and others designed to appeal to a larger audience.
Stay tuned, Texas. Be safe.
