An atmospheric river is expected to bring three main storms with considerable rain, snow and wind to northern Nevada over the next few days. But what is an atmospheric river? Here is a look at the upcoming models of weather conditions in Renault and Lake Tahoe, as well as the weather conditions you can hear in the coming days.
What is an atmospheric river?
The atmospheric river is a long, narrow region in the atmosphere that resembles a river in the sky that transports money from the tropics, according to the National Administration of the Ocean and the atmosphere. Although the atmospheric rivers vary in size, “the middle atmospheric river carries an amount of water vapor, approximately equivalent to the middle stream of water at the mouth of the Mississippi River.” Other atmospheric rivers may have more than 15 times this amount of water.
What is the weather forecast in Renault this weekend?
The first system will arrive on Friday night on Saturday. The forecast requires moderate to heavy rainfall in lower hills and snow between 8,000 to 9,000 feet, said Amanda Young, a meteorologist at the National Meteorological Service in Renault.
Storms can bring challenging travel conditions, especially in the mountain passages.
What is in the prognosis for Lake Tahoe this weekend?
In the Tacho pool, up to 3 inches can fall by Monday morning, with the higher mountain passes awaiting considerable snowfall, according to Young. The lower hills, including Renault, could see three-quarters to an inch rain over the weekend.
A second storm will move on Monday on Sunday, reducing snow levels to 6500 to 7500 feet. The snowfall will continue at higher hills, with 2 to 3 feet expected in the highest points. The rain will reduce and the moderate snow is probably in the Tahoe pool.
A third system, expected on Monday night on Tuesday, will bring more cold temperatures and more snow, which will potentially affect the lower valleys. The snow will continue until Wednesday and Thursday, with the chance of the snow reaching Renault until Thursday.
What will be the meteorological conditions of the Interstate 80-ton-permeable?
The NWS Sacramento office issued a winter consultant on Thursday afternoon. The accumulation of snow from 11 to 18 inches is expected over 7000 feet on the western slope of Sierra.
The consultation enters into force on 4am Friday and lasts until 4pm Sunday. The worst snow is expected overnight on Friday early Saturday, with snow continuing next week.
“Smooth conditions for traveling with a delay in mountain trips and chain controls,” the consultation said. “The gusts of winds can remove the branches of the trees.”

Friday: Chance of snow and rain. Snow level of 7000 feet with snowfall up to 3 inches. Gusts up to 30 mph, probably in the afternoon. High from 48 at the level of the lake and 30 for higher hills. The ponet overnight ranges from 29 to 39.
Saturday: Rain and heavy snow, with 49 high on the lake and 39 on higher hills. Snow level over 7500 feet. Longs at night ranging from 31 to 41.
Sunday: Rain and snow, with 49 high level at Lake level and 39 at higher hills. Due from the night it varies from 29 to 39 degrees.
