Charleston, WV – Drivers must remain cautious as water waters slowly retreat to West Virginia. The rain from the next system may not be heavy, but even light rainfall can worsen current problems with high water.

According to the National Meteorological Service in Charleston, a new system will arrive by Saturday morning, carrying a frozen rain in the northern regions. This ice rainfall can be maintained for much of the morning, creating dangerous road conditions.

The Meteorological Service advises travelers to monitor smooth roads, especially on bridges and overpasses. Even light glaze can cause dangerous driving conditions. Flooding areas can see renewed water problems if rainfall accumulates quickly.

Officials urge residents to monitor time updates and to prepare for changing conditions. If the trip is necessary, drivers must reduce the speed and allow further stopping.

Freezing rain and continuing flood risks can affect morning trips and weekend plans. Be informed and be cautious on the roads.
