The West Virginia volleyball team fell to the Kansas Jayhawks in three sets during a road game Saturday afternoon.
It was the second time the Jayhawks swept the Mountaineers this season.
With a score of 25-18 in the first set, both teams recorded similar statistics. Kansas had 14 kills compared to the Mountaineers’ 12. Neither team recorded an ace, but Kansas pulled away with three blocks while WVU recorded just one.
In the second set, Kansas nearly doubled West Virginia’s points, 25-13. The Mountaineers struggled offensively, recording just seven kills, the Jayhawks saw 11.
In a back-and-forth final set, Kansas pulled away. West Virginia saw six errors that cost them 25-18 in the third set.
Senior Haley Green led the Mountaineers in both kills (12) and attacks (33). Sophomore Lauren Dello led the way with 20 assists.
The Mountaineers now have a record of 8-14 (2-9 in the Big 12). They will continue conference play by hitting the road to face Cincinnati on Thursday morning at 11 a.m.
