Did Niki Giovanni eat oxi with rice and beans or candied Yam? Has the poet born in Trenton preferred that the collar was soted? Who knows if TS Elliott has ordered a black salmon in a favorite field while it says “Dans Le Restaurant” (“In the Restaurant”). Has Angelu wrote “I know why the bird in the cage sings” on a plate of chicken chicken? These poets are no longer alive, so we will never understand. .
But Trenton is the home of a coffee shop where Chris, his owner and poet -resident (when he does not cook fish with lemon pepper, “island paste”, “609” burgers or “Celebrity Sandwich), wrote the perfect story to start 2025 The.
“Be Milen
Work hard
Stay humble
Stay loyal
Be honest
Travel when possible
Never stop learning
Be grateful
and love
Always. “
With affordable prices and generous portions, Toast Cafe is one of the best kept secrets in the center of Trenton, but you won’t see the restaurant sign until you enter the front door of the 333 West State Street building, a walk through the lobby, and screw to the right.
Open Monday to Friday from 11:00 to 6:30 pm, you can call forward at (609) 337-7100 to order to pick up or eat. Get home shrimp basket for dinner tonight. (Isn’t it your turn to cook anyway?) All basket orders include fries. Or call a late breakfast/early brunch order of eggs, pancakes, chicken and waffles or French toast to surprise your hardworking staff back in the office. All egg orders include homemade fries and toast.
Leaving the office early? Is Aunt Manya in the city for a few days? How about turkey wings or pork chops with poppy and cheese? Special houses come with your choice from two sides. Or what about a grilled chicken salad (one of my favorite orders!), Or Philly cheese, or a bite sandwich? All sandwich orders include fries. Choose from a wide selection of cold juices and carbonated drinks and add a slice of apple pie or cheesecake. Come on! Aunt Manya is your favorite aunt!
While in it, call a cafe to take care of your leader’s pension party. Call (609) 337-7100.
Almost all who live or work in the center of Trenton area finds a coffee toast! On the exit, not long ago, a fire truck parked on the other side of the street caused me some concern. Two firefighters appeared from the building. However, without worry, they were walking, happily enjoying the warm, painful aroma coming from the big bags they wore … and smiling!
Call Cafe Toast on (609) 337-7100 to order delicious food. Greet Chris when you stop. Maybe I’ll see you there!
