Port Allen-Gallest Jury has charged a doctor in New York and her medical practice, and another woman claims that they have provided drugs that cause an abortion to a pregnant Louisiana woman.
The panel, a meeting in West Baton Rouge’s parish, says Dr. Margaret D. Carpenter and the medical sling consciously provided a pregnant medicine to a pregnant woman that will end her pregnancy.
Abortions were largely outlawed in Louisiana, when the US Supreme Court in 2022 overturned Roy against Wade, ending constitutional defenses to end pregnancy.
A separate accusation named another woman; Prosecutors claim that the medicine was given to a pregnant minor. WBRZ does not identify the local woman charged to cover up the identity of the minor.
