Wenatchee City Council approves upgrades to Pioneer Park – KPQ

The Wenatchee City Council has approved an offer to build nearly a quarter million dollars for improvements to Pioneer Park.

The city’s aspiration for the park was explicit at a meeting on Thursday night. These include filling the Fuller St. sidewalk. And adding the appropriate parking spaces for hell. The new paved paths will allow for more interconnectedness. According to Parks & Rec Director Dave Erickson,

What we want to do is connect the sidewalk from Russell St., all the way to the pool building, and then it continues from there. We would also add ADA parking spaces to comply with this. And then internally in the park, some connecting paths to connect the toilet building, the play equipment, the skate park – to have an affordable trip among all these elements there.

The project awarded to Pipkin Construction and funded under the budget for 2025 will hope Be completed by May 30 – just in time for the opening of the public pool!

As Erickson freely admits, “This is a quick project – a quick turn. But we want to try to do it before we have all those people who descend into the pool area for the season.”

He explains why Pipkin Construction stands out as the most viable version of the city:

We took the project to bid early this year -January 2 to the 30th. We were amazed that we had 14 racing offers, which was great. Pippkin was a low auction participant, just over $ 228,000, which is within our budget for this project.

Future plans for the park are equally practical. The city wants to replace the existing light poles and add a group shelter for a picnic.
