Bristol – In an attempt to inform motorists, the Ministry of Transport of Virginia (VDOT) provides weekly information on projects for construction and maintenance of highways in southwestern Virginia. When traveling through highway work areas, be careful and be alert for changes in motion patterns and slowly moving or stop traffic.

Interstate projects
Interstate 81 – Expansion (Washington County): A project to expand the I-81 to the south between outputs 10 and 7 in Washington County, as well as expansion of approximately one mile from north I-81 from Exodus 7 to North, is being held. Be on the lookout for the movement model changes north and south. (Completion: November 2025)
Interstate 81 – truck truck (Washington and Smith Counts): A project is currently underway to add truck trucks to the Interstate 81 north of Mile Marker 32.4 in Washington County and south of Mile Marker 34 in Smyth County. The shoulder shoulder is closed during construction. Be alert to the temporary closure of the strip to the north and south. Pay great attention to the signs of the work area. Interstate 81 – Expanding route 11 (Bristol): The city of Bristol begins an expanding project on Road 11 and I-81 to the south and to the north to improve the flow and safety of traffic. Traffic signal improvements will also be included. Be alert to highway workers and pay great attention to signboards and messages. (Completion: May 2026)
Interstate 77 – Replacement of Bridges (Bland County): Replacement of the I-77 bridge to the north of exit 62, located above the 606 (Wilderness Road) road, is held in Bland County. Be on the lookout for closing the nightbar. Take a look at the signs and messages. (Completion: At the end of 2025)
Interstate 77 – Rehabilitation of Bridges on Road 52 (Bland County): Be alert for the periodic tape closure due to the operation of a bridge on the I-77 to the north and south with a mile marker of 54.2 over road 52. Take a look at the signs and messages. (Completion: May 2025)

Interstate 81
- Night soil, boring north and south near exit 35 in the Chilhowie area of Smyth County.
- A night hole pits north and south of the Virginia/Tennessee line until 26 in Washington County.
- The Night Bridge of the deck is repaired south at Exit 17, a mile marker of 23.2 and a marker of Milly 25 in Washington County.
- Night hole, a patch north and south between exit 73 and a marker of a kilometer 87 in White County.
- A night bridge deck repairs south at a mile marker 3.5 in Bristol.
- Night bridge deck repairs north at a mile marker 68 in Wythe County.
- Two super loads will travel north January 31 – February 6 between Bristol and near output 221 in Stownon.
Interstate 77
- A night bridge repairs north near Mile Marker 45 in Wythe County.
- Night hole, patch north and south between exits 24 and 32 in White County.
- Day and night bridge deck repairs north between the markers of Millie 53.6 and 54.4 in Bland County February 3 – 6.
- Night Bridge North and south between Mile 57 and 55 markers in Bland County.

Bunch
Route 632 (Page Drive): A section of 1.5 miles from the 632 (Page Drive) road is closed between the intersections of 626 (Chambers Road) and Ballenger Road in Buchanan County. The bunk materials move the section of the roadway as part of the expansion of the coal preparation plant. Pay great attention to bypass the signs in the area. (Complete: Late Spring 2025)
Route 460/121 Poplar Crick Phase A: Route 460/121 Popola Crick Phase A Construction continues in the Buchanan County. The project created a constant change for the road 614 (Woods Fork). Access to the northern and south ends of the 614 road is 609 (Bull Creek Road) and Route 604 (Poplar Creek Road), which connects to the route 460 west of Grundi. The 604 route is open to traffic, but be on the lookout for signs, messages and flags as work continues in the area.
Route 460/121 Popola Crick Phase B: Be alert to a new 460 -in -Grundy traffic model due to the construction of 460/121 Poplar Creek Phase B. Change traffic is 460 near Hill Street and continues along the west road 460 for approximately 0.8 miles to The place where traffic will merge back on the current road 460.
Dickenson County
Route 63 Bridge Replacement: The 63 bridge route is carried out in the city of Haisi in Dickenson County. Be alert for temporary traffic signals controlling one -way traffic through the work area. (Completion: April 2026)
Grayson County
Route 670 (Laurel View Road) Pipe Replacement Project: The route 670 (Laurel View Road) in Grayson County is closed for pipe replacement. It is located 1.25 miles from the 662 and 0.55 miles road 658. The cars are advised to use alternative routes.
Route repair 21: While the slope repairs are underway, part of Road 21 in Grayson County near the North Carolina border is limited to one -way traffic controlled by temporary signals. Be careful in this area. (Completion: February 2025)
Smith County
Route 11 roundabout: A project is currently underway to build a roundabout on the road 11 at the intersection of 660 (railway) in Smith County, approximately one mile east of Oak Point Primary School. Temporary traffic signals are available and will remain active until completed. Be alert to workers and pay a lot of attention to signboards and messages. (Complete: Summer 2025)
Tazewell County
(New) Improvements at the intersection of Leathwood Lane and Commerce Drive: Be alert to construction at the intersection of Leatherwood Lane and Commerce Drive in the BlueField area of Tazewell County Starting in mid -FebruaryS While the construction is underway, there will be a circumvention to allow offset left -wing lanes and installing new motion signals. Offset Left Tapes shift the traffic left closer to the opposite traffic to increase vision distance. Take a look at the signs and messages. During construction, be on the lookout for periodic closures of the lane along the 460 east and west. (Completion: August 2025)
Washington County
Route 58 Wash in the Damascus area: The route 58 is closed due to a significant washing between road 91 in Damascus and a Road Place camp in the connock. Be alert for signs and messages while crews work to repair and repair the road. (Complete: Fall 2025)
White County
Progress Park connector/I-77 Exodus 41: Construction of a new relationship of 2.3 miles between Nye Road and E. Lee Trinkle Road is underway, providing a direct connection to the industrial site of Wytheville Progress Park. This spring of 0.3 miles from the lover’s tape was closed and remained closed for the duration of the project. The closed section of the lover’s tape is located 1.6 miles from Nye Road and 0.5 miles from Pepper’s Ferry Road. Route 671 (Crigger Road) Bridge: The route of the route 671 (Crigger Road) in Wythe County is limited to one band 11 feet wide and a triton weight border. It is envisaged to replace the bridge in early 2025.
