Caprock (2-6, 1-3) vs. Tascosa (2-2, 3-5), 7 p.m., Dick Bivins Stadium
This city rivalry game in Amarillo was first played in 1963 and this will be the 36th career meeting as these two spend time in different areas. The Rock is alive and kicking into playoff contention with a win that moves them into a tie for fourth place with Tascosa and the tiebreaker advantage. Tascosa lost the heartbreaker of all heartbreakers last week, allowing a kickoff for a TD to Abilene in the final 20 seconds of a 31-29 loss. Tascosa bounces back and clinches a playoff spot. … Tascosa 31, Caprock 14.

The winner of this game is likely to be the district champion, so the stakes for this game are extremely high. Both teams possess high-flying offenses that can score quickly in the air. Booker will be missing several key pieces of their squad, turning the home team’s outing into an upset special. … Wildorado 60, Booker 58.

Miami (5-3, 0-1) at LeForce (1-7, 0-2), 7 p.m.
It’s been a tough season for the Pirates and it’s not getting any easier. The Warriors put up a valiant fight against Follett last week, but just couldn’t pull off the upset. … Miami 54, Lefors 13.

Amarillo High (4-3, 3-1) at Lubbock High (3-5, 0-4), 7 p.m., Lowrey Field at Plains Capital Park, Lubbock
This game is full of history. It is the 102nd meeting, which ties the 19th longest streak in Texas HS football history. AHS has won 43 straight over Lubbock High, last losing in 1973. Those 43 wins are tied for the current longest streak in a series for the state of Texas. AHS has too much Jett (Lopez) offense in this. Chalk it up to 44 in a row. … Amarillo High 63, Lubbock High 17.

Wichita Falls Legacy (0-8, 0-4) at Palo Duro (4-4, 1-3), 7 p.m., Dick Bivins Stadium
The Dons Redemption Tour for a play-off place continues this week. PD earned its first district win last week at Plainview. A win over Legacy guarantees PD a playoff game with Abilene Cooper next week. … Palo Duro 42, Legacy 17.

Lubbock Cooper (7-2, 4-1) at Abilene Wylie (6-1, 4-0), 7 p.m., Hugh Sandifer Stadium, Abilene

Last week: 5-1 (.833)
Season: 32-6 (.842)

Canyon (5-3, 1-2) at Hereford (6-2, 2-1), 7 p.m.
In terms of playoff implications and sense of urgency, this is the biggest game in the area this week. Hereford are in the best position and if the Whitefaces win they earn a place in the play-offs. Canyon is more desperate, but returns to the center of events with a victory. A loss, however, and the Eagles see their margin of error reduced to nearly zero in the final week of the regular season. Hereford is the more consistent of the two teams, although Canyon is coming off a huge second half offensively in the win over Pampa. This should be a close game, but a slightly more diverse offense and home field advantage should give the Herd the edge. … Hereford 31, Canyon 28.

West Plains (5-3, 3-0) at Dumas (3-5, 1-2), 7 p.m.
No one is riding higher than West Plains right now, as the Wolves became the first team in the area to clinch a playoff spot by defeating previously unbeaten Randall in the much-anticipated first meeting between the two schools last week. They visit a desperate Dumas side this week who need a win to get into serious playoff contention. It’s an intriguing matchup featuring two talented quarterbacks in West Plains junior Reid Macon and Dumas sophomore Colton Mills. West Plains is in danger of suffering an upset after last week’s big win. It might happen, but not enough for me to go home with a loss. … West Plains 38, Dumas 28.

Pampa (2-6, 0-3) at Randall (7-1, 2-1) 7 p.m., Happy State Bank Stadium
Randle went down with a heavy hit in last week’s loss at West Plains that spoiled an undefeated season. That, along with the possibility of clinching a playoff spot, should provide plenty of motivation for the Raiders. Struggling Pampa will be all but eliminated from the playoff picture with a loss, and even with a win, the Reapers will have a lot going for them to get into contention. That could make Pampa dangerous, especially if the Raiders skip this one for next Friday’s traditional end-of-the-regular-season rivalry game against Canyon. They will probably still be too seething in the last week to allow that to happen. … Randle 47, Pampa 14.

Levelland (4-4, 0-2) at Borger (3-5, 1-1), 7 p.m.
The stakes are high in Borger’s final home game of the season as the Bulldogs will clinch a playoff spot with a win. They will need to bounce back from last week’s lopsided loss to Estacado and show they are worthy of it in a game with many playoff position implications. Levelland is coming off a crushing double overtime loss to Perryton last week and needs a win to stay in the playoff race, so both teams come into this one highly motivated. Should be close, but being at home should carry the Bulldogs into the postseason when all is said and done. … Borger 22, Levelland 20.

Lubbock Estacado (5-4, 3-0) at Lubbock-Cooper Liberty (2-6, 1-1), 7 p.m.
Estacado has already clinched a playoff spot and will solidify its district class status with a win to clinch an undefeated district title. The first-year Liberty program would clinch a playoff spot with a Levelland win and a Borger loss. All of these factors weigh in favor of the Matadors, who will sew up the No. 1 seed and force the Liberty to wait a week to determine their playoff fate. … Estacado 52, Liberty 21.

Both teams love to line up and break you down with physical styles of play. The Wildcats have shown grit the last few weeks, but Shallowater is another level right now. … 36 Shallowater, 19 River Road.

If the Bucks win this one, they still have an outside shot at a playoff spot, but don’t expect Claude to roll over in this one. Both teams run the ball well, but the Mustangs have some weapons in the air. In a game of back and forth, Claude pulls out a whistle. … Claude 54, White Stag 52.

Springlake-Earth (4-4, 2-1) at Kress (4-4, 0-2), 7:30 p.m.
The win locks up a playoff spot for the Wolverines and a potential district title depending on the Happy and Nazareth game next week. Don’t expect them to look past the kangaroos, but it won’t be a cake walk. … Springlake-Earth 62, Kress 24.

Spur (8-0, 2-0) at Valley (3-5, 2-0), 7 p.m.
Four weeks ago, the Patriots were winless, with pundits burying them for the season. Fast forward to that game and Valley just needs to win that game or the game in Petersburg next week to make the playoffs. The Bulldogs have a strong 1-2 punch in Josh Ortiz and Ace Walker, that’s the difference in this. … Spurs 66, Valley 28.

Silverton (2-7, 0-3) vs. Lorenzo (3-5, 0-2), 7:30 p.m.
A promising season ended without a hitch for the Owls this year. Injuries have blighted Kevin Hearn’s side all season. One constant throughout most of the season has been the play of Zaden Ortiz and the spread speed back lead them to victory in this. … Silverton 48, Lorenzo 18.
