Washington Wizards officially abandoned Reggie Jackson – Sports Illustrated

Washington wizards put one of their last commercial acquisitions through the rotating door.

NBA Insider Chris Haines reports that wizards abandon Reggie Jackson only hours after acquired it in a trade in Philadelphia 76ers.

In the deal, the Six sent Jackson and selected from the first round in 2026 to the wizards for a two -way player Jared Butler and four selections from the second round.

The trade was made with the future selection of the first round instead of Jackson, a veteran guard that does not correspond to the Wizards timeline. By cutting Jackson, this makes it a free agent that is eligible to sign with every team in the buying market.

Giving up Jackson, Wizards already have several open places to work with. They can fill them by signing a two-way player like Justin Champani or bringing a younger player up to the up.

Wizards will probably have two places after they acquire and agree to Marcus Smart, which has been acquired in trading with Mampis Grizlies, giving them a lot of space to be creative over the last two months of the season.
