Saturday celebrated another disappointing night for the Washington Cougars men’s basketball team, falling to WCC Saint Mary leaders with a final result of 77-56. The loss moves Cougs to 16-11 as a whole with 6-8 brands in the West Coast Conference.
The turnover again played a huge role in the loss of cougar, with the WSU making 16 and forcing a minimum of six against GAELS. St. Mary ends the WSU season with their victory.
As the couges gave up with only four points at the half, they fired 30% of the pitch in the second half, allowing the home team to withdraw. GAELS’s efforts were assisted by Alos by 30 points by Lithuanian sophomore Paulius Murauskas.
The emphasis of the night for WSU was the performance of Lejuan Watts, which scored 17 points, while registering four assists.
The state of Washington has four matches left in their regular schedule of the season. Their next competition is a rematch against Gonzaga Bulldogs on Wednesday, February 19th, with Tipoff scheduled for 18:00 PT at ESPN2 Pullman.
The WCC tournament is planned to start on March 6 in Las Vegas.
