Washington Capitals head coach Spencer Carberry announced Tuesday that guard Matt Roy is “definitely a possibility” to return to the lineup Wednesday against the Nashville Predators (7 p.m. ET, Monumental Sports Network in-market, ESPN+ out-of-market). The 29-year-old participated in the team’s practice on Tuesday while having full contact and participating in snaps for the first time since suffering a lower-body injury.

Roy has missed the last 10 games since being injured in Washington’s season opener on Oct. 12. The Capitals placed the 29-year-old on injured reserve on Oct. 28.
Roy lasted just 8:39 in his Washington debut after signing a six-year contract with the Capitals on July 1 as an unrestricted free agent, but the game in which the injury occurred has not been identified.
Carberry says Roy is “definitely a possibility” for Wednesday against the Predators.
Chychrun skated 45 minutes with Kenny McCudden. It’s still progressing, but it’s not quite there yet.#ALLMAJORS

Defenseman Jakob Chykrun, who has missed the past three games with a lower-body injury, skated before the team’s practice but did not stay on the ice with his teammates. The 26-year-old lasted just 1:50 of the Capitals’ 5-3 win over the New York Rangers on Oct. 29 before leaving the ice.
Chychrun is eligible to be activated from injured reserve at any time after already missing a week.
Carbery on Chychrun: “He skated this morning for a solid 45 (minutes) with Kenny (McCudden), so he’s progressing as well (but) not to the point where he’s still in practice. But we’re moving forward.” #Caps

Washington, which enters Tuesday in third place in the Metropolitan Division with a .727 hitting percentage (8-3-0 record) after Sunday’s 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, also hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday and visits the St. Louis Blues on Saturday before taking a three-day break.
