Waco, Texas – Waco Independent School District welcomes its new CEO of special education.
The area announced on February 13 that NKECCHINYERE WASHINGTON was appointed to the post.
Washington has a 15-year experience in special education, educational leadership, program development and student-oriented support, WACO ISD said.
According to District, Washington has been a training coach under the Department of the Harris County Ministry of Education in the last five years, supporting students from 57 school districts in the third largest county in the United States
As a coach on division instructions, Washington manages special educational programs, “providing proper funding, distribution of resources and accurate assessments of students’ abilities to support academic growth,” said WACO ISD.
Washington also has 12 years of experience as a classroom teacher, and more special about dealing with the needs of students in special educational programs and implementing strategies for behavioral support to support behavioral challenges, according to the area.
Before he began his career in education, Washington worked as an emergency technician.
“I am passionate about creating an environment where all students are flourishing and recognizing the critical role that positive leadership plays to achieve it,” Washington said. “I can’t wait to join Waco ISD, where I can overcome gaps, encourage open communication, and guarantee that every participant feels valuable and included.”

Waco ISD said Washington has a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University – Prearie View and Master’s Degree from St. Thomas -Husston University. She is ready to receive a doctorate from the University of Abilin Christian in December 2027.
Washington will officially launch on March 17, Waco ISD said. She takes over the position of Charlotte Davis, who retired effective on January 31.
