With nearly a week to go until Election Day, thousands of Nevadans are voting early and choosing what future they want for themselves and their families.
I have been proud to represent our state in the Senate for the past six years. I have worked across party lines to carry out my duties for Nevada, which is why I rank as one of the most bipartisan and effective members. Now I’m running for re-election to continue to put Nevada first and build a future where we grow the middle class, lower costs and empower everyone to succeed.
My record is clear: I will work with Democrats and Republicans to achieve success for Northern Nevada.
That’s why I helped write and pass the bipartisan Infrastructure Act, which creates thousands of good-paying union jobs in our state that help build safer roads, improve public transportation, and upgrade Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
I also successfully lobbied the President to provide a much-needed new veterans hospital in Reno and helped introduce bipartisan legislation to enable it, allowing veterans to receive better care right in their communities. This is one way I make sure veterans in Northern Nevada have access to the quality medical services they deserve.
And I recently worked across party lines with Governor Lombardo and Congressman Amodei to stop Washington bureaucrats’ misguided plan to move Reno’s mail processing to Sacramento, which would have delayed first-class mail for seniors, veterans, small business owners and families across Northern Nevada. By stopping this plan, we have shown what we can achieve when we work together.
I’ve never been afraid to break my party when it suits Nevada. I stood up to my party leaders to provide more funding for border security and to stand up for police officers against policies that would hinder law enforcement. I voted against federal regulations that make life harder for Nevada ranchers and ranchers, and I opposed the Biden administration’s proposals for heavy-handed regulations that threaten Nevada’s well-paying mining jobs in our rural communities.
At a time when too many Nevadans are struggling to keep up with the rising cost of living, I helped pass a law to cap the cost of insulin at $35 a month and gave Medicare the power to negotiate lower drug costs with recipe. I also introduced a public lands and economic development bill for Washoe County that would prioritize new affordable housing, expand opportunities for smart and responsible growth, and permanently protect nearly 1 million acres of public lands.
While I’m running to keep delivering for our state, my opponent Sam Brown is running to deliver for MAGA extremists. Brown wants to extend tax breaks to the super-rich and corporations at the expense of hard-working Nevadans. He even said he “admired” the extreme plan to phase out Social Security and Medicare in just five years, putting our seniors’ hard-earned benefits on the line.
My opponent is also a direct threat to the reproductive freedom of women in Nevada. His decades-long anti-abortion history includes pushing to ban abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest, supporting overturning Roe v. Wade, and even saying his anti-abortion views are “non-negotiable.” He has been a leader of an anti-choice group in Nevada and was just recently caught on tape saying he opposes a ballot initiative to protect reproductive freedoms in Nevada.
I am running for re-election because the families of our state deserve a senator who will always put Nevada first. Early voting has already begun and will be open until Nov. 1, and voters who received a ballot can send it back now before the election. I encourage everyone to vote early to put Nevada first.
