Visit Baton Rouge buy a shell from a city center building that plans to become its new offices.

The convention and organization of visitors paid $ 850,000 for the building of $ 232 Lafayette St. In a deal that closed last week, according to East Baton Rouge employee of the court. The seller was Trahan Properties III LLC, an organization tied to the architect of New Orleans Trey Trahan.

Trahan bought the property in 2005, when his company was based in Baton Rouge; It was said that he would build the development of mixed use in which his offices would house and have residences.

Jill Kyder, President and CEO of Visity Baton Rouge, said there was no schedule to repair the building that had no roof.

The plan is to build a modern facility in the heart of the center, which Kyder said he sees as a growing destination for conventions and arts.

The 232 Lafayette building has more than 14,000 square feet of space. That more than doubling the size of the visit to the current offices of Baton Rouge, 359 third.

Visit Baton Rouge has grown off its offices and there are not enough meeting rooms, Kyder said.
