The sisters are 7 years old and start gathering books in the neighborhood and the school.

Loudoun County, Washington – on Thursday afternoon in Loudoun, Virginia, Home, Mackenzie sisters and Sophie Paris built a fortress. But not just every fortress. “Well, it’s a new and different version,” one of them said.

The couple recently learned the secret of a great fortress: teamwork. “Teamwork makes the dream of working,” Mackenzie said as he unfolded a blanket that will make the roof of their tent.

And this teamwork extends far beyond the creation of fortresses.

Twins are passionate about many things, including reading. This was what inspired their recent plan to collect books for children in southern California. More than 16,000 homes have been destroyed in the deadly fires.

“They have to learn how to read,” Mackenzie said, citing children who have lost their homes in the fires.

The 7-year-olds started collecting books in their neighborhood and school with the help of their mother Amanda.

“It’s really heartbreaking to see something they had as an idea, it’s really grown and I hope they see it,” Amanda said.

The collection has already grown to include more than 1,300 books.

The family plans to deliver the books to California or to transport them personally depending on the final number collected.
