While standing in front of his home, George Reese said the last few days have been emotional trains.
“This is the most difficult thing I have experienced in in my life,” he said.
George Reese couldn’t help but smile when he described his son Christopher Reese, who followed in his footsteps and chased a career in law enforcement.
“I can’t even start telling you how proud I am. He had goals and I think he would achieve them,” he said.
Christopher Reese became an officer at the Virginia Beach Police Department in 2022. The 30-year-old married just four months ago.
“It’s sad, it’s sad. I know he dreamed of being a father, but now he’ll never get this opportunity, it’s unfair,” said George Reese.
Christopher Reese graduated from Sterling High School in Somendale, Camden County. After college, he remains in Virginia.
On Friday night, Christopher Reese and his partner Cameron Girwin were shot dead and killed at Virgina’s beach as they tried to stop traffic.
This is a script George Reese says he can’t get out of his mind. He is a retired officer in Kamden.
“It’s hard because I’ve seen it.
Christopher Reese is called a hero, and his father tells him that he always wanted to help people.
“He always had a smile on his face. I think he was built. It was just constant, the child was always smiling and just a great child,” he said.
In order to remember his life in service, Mayor of Somerdale, George Baidi, ordered all the flags in the area to be flying half a staff in honor of Christopher Reese.
“I felt it was the right thing to notify the family [in] Some form or form we think of them and pray for them, “Badi said.
George Reese also took off the American flag outside his home and says he is forever proud of what his son has achieved in his young life.
“We will only remember him by talking about him and telling his stories and keeping his memory alive in our hearts,” said George Reese, who added that his family will travel to Virginia later this week to celebrate Christopher’s life Reese.
Police claim that the suspect in this case was found dead hours later by a self-inflicted firearm wound.
